Web application for the distribution of video messages, primarily directed at mobile users. The video can be used to accompany delivered gifts, such as flowers. One of our own products.
The application enables users to create an account and upload their video messages. Users are given a unique QR code in a nicely designed card, which they can download and print out. The QR then gives access to the video message. A surprising alternative to the traditional card to go with a present.
We implemented the following techniques for this project:
Django is an advanced web application framework, written in Python. Django incorporates a great number of features, enabling developers to develop websites and web applications very quickly and efficiently. We save our clients time and money by getting up to speed quickly using Django.
API is quite a general term defining how a piece of code may communicate with another. In our context, these pieces of code are on different parts of the internet, enabling communication of data between remote internet locations. Think Google Maps API, web services.
A web service is a method of communicating data over the internet, where flexibility and security are vital.
We can implement a myriad of web services, but more importantly, thanks to the brilliant Python Libraries, we can also build complete web services from the ground up.
A tool we use to convert video and audio into other formats. But ffmpeg is much more, most notably it is used as a backend in many quite well known programs.
Distributed Task Queuing is used for scheduled tasks, such as automating the generation of RSS feeds, scheduled data imports, or any other task that should not or must not occur in real time. In Django projects, the task runner Celery is used most often.
This is an interface framework similar in functionality to Bootstrap, although Foundation was earlier to arrive on the scene of the responsive mobile-first frameworks. Both sport the grid system, with which interface implementations can be done with more ease and reliability. For some things, Foundation is just a little bit better.
